Regina Hofmanova is a choreographer/director whose distinctive work is a quirky blend of theatricality and musicality.
Her unique style is derived from everyday gestures extrapolated into contemporary dance movement – creating approachable dance theatre, laden with black humour, surrealism and the absurd. Her movement vocabulary comprises modern dance, jazz, ballet, and Argentine tango – and she has choreographed for a broad range of productions.
In addition to her own dance theatre pieces, Regina’s work encompasses opera, and musicals – where she has collaborated with such renowned directors as David Pountney, Nic Muni, Roman Hovenbitzer and Jiri Nekvasil. She has also created solo choreographies and figure skating routines.
After studying languages at Charles University, Regina Hofmanova went on to study choreography at the Performing Arts Academy (HAMU) in Prague. Throughout her varied career she has produced her own shows as well as collaborating on a variety of opera and musical productions.
