TangoContactImprov: SPACE AND COMMUNICATION

What happens when we allow space to become our dance partner?

We invite you to another TangoContactImprov dance-improvisation workshop, in which we’ll explore the principles of Argentine tango as inspiration for free dance improvisation and creation.

This time, we’ll be focusing on space and communication within it.

How does our perception of space influence our movement?

And, conversely, how do we transform the space around us?

What can we convey through movement – and what happens when we incorporate the spoken word into our communication? Do we really convey what we mean?

We’ll be working with the principle of leading and following, but in a slightly different way to what you might be used to. Not just in pairs, but also individually and in a group. We’ll explore spatial orientation, distance, direction, attention and mutual attunement, and look at how these elements can transform our experience of dance.

✨ You don’t need any previous experience.

The workshop is open to dancers and non-dancers alike, amateurs and professionals, as well as actors, teachers and anyone interested in movement, improvisation and communicating with others.

And perhaps discover new possibilities for movement within yourselves.
